Node.js development for APIs and services that have to stay boring in production

Node.js is part of Hirvex Technologies’ backend set for APIs, gateways and products that already live in the JavaScript ecosystem. We treat it as engineering: typed where it helps, queued where it blocks, logged where it fails.

Who this is for. Teams standardising on JavaScript across client and server, or who need a service beside an existing app.

Problems we typically meet

These are the patterns that show up before a useful first release—not abstract “digital transformation” language.

  • A single Node process does CPU-heavy work and dies under load.
  • There is no structure beyond a folder of routes.
  • Secrets and environment configs are improvised.
  • Real-time features were added without a connection plan.

How we approach the work

Clear service boundaries, background work off the request, and HTTP contracts other teams can consume. We will recommend Laravel or .NET instead when the domain is a conventional business system and the team is stronger there.

What a serious first release can include

Scope is confirmed in discovery. This is the shape of work we are equipped to deliver—not a menu you must buy in full.

  • HTTP APIs
  • Integration services
  • Real-time features when justified
  • Workers and queues
  • Pairing with React and React Native

What we need from you

A useful brief is better than a long one. If you can answer most of the following, we can propose a first slice instead of a theatre estimate.

  • Who will use this, and what must they finish in a session?
  • Which systems must stay (accounting, payments, identity, a shop)?
  • What is already live that we should not break?
  • Any hosting region, language or compliance rule that is non-negotiable?
  • The date that actually matters—and why.

How an engagement runs

Four steps. No mystery bench.

01

Brief

You describe the users, the job to be done, current tools and any hard date or constraint. A page is enough.

02

Scope

We reply with clarifying questions and a first-release outline: modules, roles, integrations and what “done” means.

03

Build

Named engineers work in visible increments, with staging you can click and a weekly written status.

04

Run

Launch, handover and a support path. The system is yours to operate—not a black box we disappear from.

Questions we are asked

Express, Nest, or something else?

We choose the smallest framework that matches the team and the contract. Nest is useful for larger structured services; it is not mandatory for a small adapter.

Can Node replace Laravel here?

Sometimes. If the rest of the estate is Laravel, we usually extend Laravel rather than add a second culture for one endpoint.

If this is the work in front of you

Send the users, the job to be done and any hard constraint. We will answer as engineers—not with a canned brochure.
